Estimated cost to construct one mile of bike freeway, light rail, and internal combustion freeway (in millions of dollars)
This graph compares the relative costs of creating new bikeways, light rail and internal combustion ways in urban areas. Congestion in urban areas is expected to skyrocket as existing highways fill up! Bike commuters avoid this by being extremely space and time efficient, to say nothing of zero emmissions! It would cost next to nothing to open up waterway maintenance roads to bicycles and give them freeways too! Imagine how much ground you could cover by bike if you never had to stop like cars can do on a freeway! Thanks to APM for the info. |
